The Power of Love

IMG_1482LOVEValentine’s Day is approaching… will it be another occasion to exchange overpriced cards or will it be a day of more meaning and purpose? Love is more than candy hearts and roses. It’s a powerful force that can transform individuals, communities and our entire planet. It can heal deep emotional wounds, erase divisions within our human family, inspire people into great action for the benefit of others, create incredible bonds between strangers and teach us important lessons in compassion & forgiveness.

This Valentine’s Day, why not expand the purpose of the day to reflect on the true meaning of love? Hint: love is expressed in its truest form when it is selfless, which means giving without expecting or desiring gain of any sort. Also worth noting– when selfless love is shared one feels fulfilled, not depleted. This February 14th, try opening your heart and expressing selfless love. Here are some ideas to get you started

And of course, don’t forget to give yourself a little love as well. You cannot truly love others unless you unconditionally love yourself. Happify proves this point with their well stated infographic on compassion toward yourself. Have fun spreading the love inside and out!
